The Parting Glass

Some may recognize this song from the movie, The Waking of Ned Devine, as it is sung at the end of the film as they hold up their glasses to the cliffs over the sea. Scott has sung this for several memorial services for, as is true with many of the Irish aires, its bittersweet lyrics make one both smile and weep in the same song. For us it has become a tradition now to have Scott sing this well known song at the end of the last set for just about any time we perform. It seemed fitting that The Parting Glass also be the one to finish this set. God bless, and may His joy be with you all.

Lyrics

Traditional Song | Sung by Scott Wright

  • Oh all the money that e'er I had,
  • I spent it in good company
  • And all the harm that e'er I've done,
  • Alas, it was to none but me
  • And all I've done for want of wit to memory
  • Now I can't recall
  • So fill to me the parting glass,
  • Good night and joy be with you all.
